Spring brings HOA activities

An increased tempo accompanies the arrival of spring in Big Canoe.  Homeowners return from where they have overwintered to meet friends and neighbors at the Fitness Center, on the trails and tennis courts, or boating on the lake. What fun it is to watch the kids playing soccer or fishing from the bank of Lake Pettit.

All of us look forward to the many activities that bring us together again-the Symphony on the Green, June 1; fireworks, July 4; and the HOA Annual Meeting, July 12. The DeKalb Symphony is co-sponsored by the HOA and the developer.

Seven Big Canoers vie for four HOA vacancies

The individuals below have been nominated by the Homeowners Association (HOA) Nominating Committee, and will compete to fill four vacancies on the HOA Board of Directors on June 30 of this year.

Scharf has already served for one year as the replacement for John Seferian, who left the HOA Board after he was elected to the Property Owners Association Board (POA). The three-year term of Seferian/Scharf runs through June.

The other three members who are rotating off the board in June are Tom Almy, Tom Alexander and Laura Morris.

Helen Buckelew is chairman of the HOA Board, while George Thurman serves as vice chairman, Ben Collins serves as treasurer and Kay Born serves as secretary. Other members of the Board include Ron James, Carolyn Littell and Sue Hauseman.

Good friends and neighbors from Equestrian spread a picnic of favorite recipes at the 2004 Symphony on the Green.

The DeKalb Symphony will present the 2008 Concert on the Green at the Big Canoe Golf Course. Concert begins at 7:00 PM.

This event is co-sponsored by your HOA and Big Canoe Realty. Big Canoe Realty will have a beverage tent open from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, where they will offer a complimentary glass of wine to residents and their guests.
